The Missouri State Fair rodeo clown whose schtick involved putting on an Obama mask while taunting a bull has now lost his job. According to USA Today,
State Fair officials called the performance “inappropriate,” and added in a statement: “We strive to be a family friendly event and regret that Saturday’s rodeo badly missed that mark.”
The rodeo clown did what clowns do: make fun of something or someone. The AP found one rodeo-goer who likened the mockery to a KKK rally.
“They bring out what looks like a dummy. The announcer says ‘Here’s our Obama dummy, or our dummy of Obama.’ They mentioned the president’s name, I don’t know, 100 times. It was sickening. It was feeling like some kind of Klan rally you’d see on TV.”
But, of course, mocking the President is offensive to the lefty chattering class only when the President isn’t white. It wasn’t that long ago that burning George Bush in effigy was a standard feature at the left’s clan rallies and threatening to kill him was uttered without reprisal.
But where was the ‘outrage’ when protesters wore the what looks to be the same Obama mask at their anti electricity rally? Citizen journalists Daylight Disinfectant and Laughing at Liberals covered the event where Daylight Disinfectant captured these photos:
As he notes on his website here,
Two weeks ago Saturday extreme environmentalist protesters, sponsored by 1% environmentalist Bill McKibben’s 350.ORG used a similar mask of Obama in a Big Coal protest which included $399/hour yachts. During the charade, “the Pres” was denigrated to riding in a kayak . According to an as yet unnamed an authoritative source, the person wearing the mask was put into a dangerous situation during the stunt (similar to a rodeo clown?). As one witness said, “when the motor yachts were sideways to the current, they drifted down into the kayaks which was potentially dangerous.”
I will retain my right to express outrage when the President–any President–is mocked. But I will call out the hypocrisy of those who do it for political convenience.
